The 3 accompanying frenemies of motherhood!
Jul 18, 2023The 3 best friends of Motherhood that are never far from any mum
Motherhood is, without question, a beautiful journey filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments. You may not always see it this way but we all know deep down (really deep down!) that it is.
However, amidst the bliss, there's another side that often goes unspoken—the anxiety and guilt that many mums experience when leaving the house with their children.
I know all too well the rollercoaster of emotions that accompany stepping out of the house with kids, the guilt of doing something for ourselves, and how humour and support can make all the difference.
It is a journey and at times frightening adventure that lead to me creating my amazing community of mums in my world of postnatal fitness classes, specifically MummaBfit in Basingstoke, and how the business I have created offers a haven for mums facing the same challenges I did and to a point still do face.
Allow me to introduce the frenemies of motherhood…
Leading lady number 1: Anxious Mind:
Leaving the house with a child can trigger a whirlwind of anxiety. Thoughts race through our minds like Olympic sprinters—what if the baby cries uncontrollably, drawing judgmental stares from strangers? Will I be able to handle any situation that arises?
It's natural to worry about the unknown, but remember, you're not alone. Every mother, at some point or another, has experienced these thoughts, and it's time to shed the stigma and embrace the support available.
Oscar used to cry at every class we went too when he was a baby, as a first time mum this was horrendous. Some of the worst experiences of my life; I just wanted the ground to swallow me up therefore going anywhere was horrible.
Frenemies number 2: Guilt Factor:
Ah, guilt—a close companion on the motherhood journey alongside anxiety. We often find ourselves torn between wanting to do something for ourselves and feeling guilty about not focusing solely on our little ones.
Attending a postnatal fitness class, like MummaBfit, can intensify these conflicting emotions. But let's set the record straight: taking care of yourself is essential for your well-being, both physically and mentally.
When you nurture your own needs, you become a happier, healthier mom, ultimately benefiting your child as well.
I cannot stress the importance of looking after number one. Children don’t remember all the things you did with them before the age of 5.
But those moments of living with a stressed, wound-up mum because she has not given herself some love, will stick with children and feed their anxieties and behaviours.
& finally, In walks frenemy number 3: the Motherload:
Motherhood is a juggling act—balancing multiple responsibilities, chores, and sleep deprivation. It sometimes feels like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.
As much as we may try to hide it, no mum has it all together, no matter how polished she may appear on social media.
It's important to acknowledge that we're all in the same boat, struggling with the motherload. And that's where the magic of community support comes in.
But, there is one extra friend trying to dull down the others: little Miss Humor:
Humor is a lifeline when it comes to surviving the challenges of motherhood. Laughing off the chaos and unpredictability of parenting can help alleviate anxiety and remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.
Remember, you're not the only mum who's had a poonami at the grocery store or used a dummy as an emergency teething ring or to shut up another screaming fit!
Sharing these funny anecdotes with fellow mums can be therapeutic and help you realize that imperfect moments are what make motherhood beautiful.
The magic answer to help combat some of these toxic friendships...
MummaBfit & its magic power, even if I do say so myself!
Now, let's shine a spotlight on MummaBfit, the postnatal fitness classes in Basingstoke that have become a haven for mums.
Founded by myself who has personally experienced the struggles of mum anxiety, these classes are a safe space where mums support each other through shared experiences.
From overwhelmed first-timers to seasoned veterans, everyone is welcome with open arms.
It's a place where you can let your guard down, sweat out the stress, and find solace in knowing that you're not alone on this crazy journey.
In conclusion Motherhood is like that long road trip you can't wait to take but half way through you kinda start to regret it and get a tad frustrated...
Motherhood is a long journey but you know the end destination will be worth it.
Motherhood can be overwhelming, but it's essential to remember that anxiety and guilt are universal emotions experienced by moms worldwide.
Taking care of ourselves is not a luxury; it's a necessity.
Whether you're attending postnatal fitness classes or finding support in your community, reaching out and sharing the challenges can lighten the load and help you navigate the anxieties of leaving the house with your child.
Try too embrace the chaos, find humor in the mess, and remember that the support of fellow mums can be your greatest source of strength and reassurance.
